Apartment 1 is a new, small private workspace for artists to experiment. It is inspired by its ancestor, Location One, an independent arts gallery that thrived from 1998-2013 on Greene Street in SoHo. Artists from 33 different countries spent time in our studios, collaborated, questioned everything, and made new work. It was a time of extreme technological change in the creation and presentation of art. We are now living in a period of extreme social change and are looking for new models of artistic and theatrical expression. To that end we have initiated the workspace Apartment 1.

We maintain the Location One website as an archive. Please feel free to browse some of the wonderful artists who honored us by spending time in the past.
